Sadness is just one element of depression. Feeling sad over a loss and being down is just a part of life. However, depression is something that affects one’s daily functioning. Depression is all encompassing and affects our body, our mind, our behavior, and our spirit. It impacts how someone sees themselves, others, and the world. Symptoms can last for weeks, months or years. However, with treatment depression can be managed successfully.
Anxiety and Stress
Can’t live with it, can’t live without it. It’s one of those things we try to avoid like traffic, but inevitably there it is. The good news is that managing anxiety and stress is treatable.
One of the best strategies to beating anxiety is learning to manage it by accepting that we do not have control over many of the things we wished we did. Knowing how to pick your battles and being aware of the symptoms or triggers to anxiety can be of great benefit. Therapy helps people gain confidence in being better prepared for those unknowns that lay ahead for which we often only have so much control.
