Anger Management

Grief, Loss, and Terminal Illness

Grief is often associated with death, but we experience similar feelings when we lose anything close to us. It is important to allow ourselves a moment of vulnerability to help build us back up again. Not grieving only ensures that the pain we carry will be stored away only to manifest in some harmful way that affects our self and our relationship to the world and others. The pain we carry does not have to impact or even dictate our lives. Therapy can help us learn how to grieve our losses with greater comfort and help restore a balance in us.

Addiction & Substance Abuse Issues

Whether it began when you were younger or started as a distraction from other things, addiction & substance abuse and dependence has impacted your functioning and has affected your relationships. I work with people to helping them gain a better understanding of how addiction impacts their lives and provide treatment options to best suit each individual.

Life Transition Issues

Depression

Sadness is just one element of depression. Feeling sad over a loss and being down is just a part of life. However, depression is something that affects one’s daily functioning. Depression is all encompassing and affects our body, our mind, our behavior, and our spirit. It impacts how someone sees themselves, others, and the world. Symptoms can last for weeks, months or years. However, with treatment depression can be managed successfully with treatment.

Anxiety and Stress

Can’t live with it, can’t live without it. It’s one of those things we try to avoid like traffic, but inevitably there it is. The good news is that managing anxiety and stress is treatable.

One of the best strategies to beating anxiety is learning to manage it by accepting that we do not have control over many of the things we wished we did. Knowing how to pick your battles and being aware of the symptoms or triggers to anxiety can be of great benefit. Therapy helps people gain confidence in being better prepared for those unknowns that lay ahead for which we often only have so much control.
